Michigan. This is my open M9 and two daughters at the turnaround point in Grand Rapids.
They told me that they preferred riding on an open car. |

operating two tourist trains on that day so we were placed out of the way in the siding. |

Bob Knight, myself and Mike Mitzel. |

Michigan. We ran from West Yard in Marquette to Republic Mine and back. The railroad
kindly let us cruise up onto the ore dock at Marquette, where a loaded ship was just
leaving. The LS&I ship out over 10 million tons of pellets a year. |

Michigan. We ran from Ishpeming to Republic Mine, then back through Ishpeming to Marquette
and up onto the ore dock. Finally we retraced our route to ishpeming. This is Chuck
White's MT-14 in West Yard. |

heading West through one of the junctions at Negaunee. |

Upper Michigan. This is heading West near Humboldt on our way to Baraga from Ishpeming
through beautiful northwoods scenery. L'Anse Hill is ahead of us, 10 miles long with a 3
percent grade in some places. |

Lake on the return to Cadillac. |

ran across this old wooden billboard advertising the car ferry service, now defunct for 20
years or more. |

The 2000 excursion on the TSBY was from
Cadillac to Kalkaska and back, a repeat of our 1997 trip. This was a total of about 80
miles. The weather was cool but the experience was as good as ever. |
