on the Chesapeake Indiana RR
North Judson to Malden, IN
This is the beautifully restored depot at North Judson. It is a museum filled with fascinating photos and railroad artifacts. View the museum website at: http://hvrm.railfan.net/
The engine house for the museum group.
This is one of their resident locomotives. Roster information is at: http://hvrm.railfan.net/roster2.html
The speeders are loaded onto the track at the start of the day.
Just outside of La Crosse, IN was this concrete crossing tower, long disused but still standing. That is my open Fairmont M9 in front of the tower.
Looking out of the tower at the speeders in the front of the convoy.
Looking out of the tower the other way at the speeders in the rear of the convoy.
Approaching Malden, where there is a passing track and a large grain elevator.
Approaching the turnaround point at Malden.
Close up of some of the cars at Malden.
Grain country between Malden and LaCrosse.
Looking rearward between Malden and LaCrosse.
At LaCrosse we took a lunch break, leaving the cars and hirails next to the town park.
Back at North Malden, some of the groups were up for a second trip and are preparing to leave.
This beautifully restored C&O Fairmont M19 was right at home on ex-C&O trackage!
At LaCrosse, museum member Tom Tittle had installed two position signals in the town park.
And they actually work, as Tom demoed for us!! |
