 This ex-DSS&A motor car shed at Au Train was still standing in 1996, despite not being used for many years and being close enough to the southern edge of Lake Superior to get some spray during those famous "Gales of November".

 Chuck Pearson crossing the Manistee River on the Tuscola and Saginaw Bay Railroad (TSBY) in his beautifully restored ex-GT S2 during September 1997. This was the first NARCOA ride on the TSBY, from Cadillac to Kalkaska and return.

 At the 1998 NARCOA excursion on the Coopersville and Marne Railroad, we noted this ex-TSBY Alco RS3 at Coopersville.

 This beautifully restored depot is on the Indiana NorthEastern Railroad at Jonesville, Michigan. The first NARCOA excursion on this railroad took place in August 2001.

 Also on the 1999 Illinois Railnet excursion, here is the sole GE power on that railroad, seen at Ottawa. Not one of Mike Mitzel's favorite locomotives - parts are very expensive.

 On the 1996 LS&I excursion, we rode up onto the Marquette ore dock. This water tank, left over from steam days, was still in place. It was dismantled the following year.

 Also at Marquette on the LS&I, this steamer is a reminder of older days. This photo was taken in 97 but the engine is still there.

 I noted a brand new hyrail, a Ford F450 outside the LS&I engine shop and headquarters at Eagle Mills after the 2000 excursion on the LS&I. I compared it with my 1942 LS&I speeder. Wow - how times have changed.

 Running under the loader at long closed Republic Mine on the 1994 LS&I excursion. This was the only time we were allowed to run into the mine site.

 The motor car shed at Hillsdale, MI in November 2002. Note the rails going to it. It stands within the wye in the middle of town and was securely locked. I couldn't see what was in it.

 Searchmont depot on the Algoma Central, 1996. This line still carries passenger trains that stop at Searchmont.

 At the LS&I ore dock in Marquette in the summer of 1997, another boat load of iron ore is collected for the insatiable blast furnaces around the Great Lakes.

 Crossing the Dead River Trestle on the LS&I in 2001 are Jim Lindholm and Jeremy Winkworth in an open M19. The height of this bridge is about 120 feet and there are no rails or walkways.

 Ex-ICRR M9 F8694 posed by the meticulously restored Kalkaska Depot on the return from Petoskey to Cadillac, TSBY 2001 excursion, 184 miles of great riding.
