Motorcar Information - Articles, Pictures, References:
  • Jeremy Winkworth's Motorcar Website - Jeremy Winkworth was active in the motorcar hobby from 1994 to 2008. In that time he had ridden 3,000 miles on the rails in the Midwest. Of equal interest to him was restoration. He restored a number of two-cycle Fairmont M-Series cars. Some were frame-up projects and one was the conversion from a standard gauge car to a narrow gauge one. He was an excursion coordinator for early rides on the Coopersville and Marne RR. Having maintained web sites for many years, Jeremy documented all his restorations, excursions and other useful information online. The 1990s and 2000s were an exciting time in the hobby. It was still small enough to be relatively unstructured but good insurance and NARCOA name recognition had opened doors to more and longer excursions. No longer were motorcar and hirail owners limited to 10 miles of weedy track. Multiple-day rides on pristine track were becoming the rule but shorter one-day rides were still available for those who preferred something slower and easier. Many parts were still available from Fairmont. Pontiac Coil was still selling wooden coils. In spite of Jeremy's goal to ride until the day he died and then be buried with his 1942 Open M9, he had to retire from the hobby in 2008 due to health reasons. His entire motorcar website has been transferred onto the NARCOA site so the useful information on it will always be available.
